Description

• The Government and Community Relations Division (GovCo) helps bridge the gap between the work of NYCEDC and the needs and ideas of New Yorkers impacted by our projects. • The selected candidate will be responsible for working along the southwest Brooklyn waterfront and across the EDC’s citywide waterfront portfolio. They will develop, maintain, and coordinate NYCEDC’s relationships with various stakeholders to facilitate successful project completion. • The GovCo AVP will work with project teams including Planning, Asset Management, and Legal to share stakeholder input, design engagement strategies, and advise on community liaison activities.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience working with elected officials, public agencies, campaigns, communications, organizing and/or community-based organizations. • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree in public policy, political science, community planning or other relevant expertise preferred. • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. • Experience building coalitions among groups with diverse interests. • Highly organized, capable of prioritizing competing interests in a fast-paced, constantly evolving environment. • Ability to travel within five boroughs of New York City and attend evening and occasional weekend meetings. Driver’s license preferred. • Familiarity with New York City and New York State land-use public approval processes such as ULURP or GPP and the Blue Economy is preferred. • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point) • New York City residence is required within 180 days of hire.
