Description

• Build predictive models and apply scientific computing methods to find evidence of ore-forming processes. • Help build a worldwide dataset underlying our exploration program with attention to uncertainty in data and predictions. • Create models and develop software to accelerate discovery of critical battery metals. • Work closely with geoscientists to create geologic predictions, identify exploration targets, design field programs, and collect data. • Help KoBold make valuable discoveries by building data tools to solve scientific problems.

Requirements

• An advanced degree in the physical sciences, engineering, computer science, or mathematics. • A minimum of 6 years post-degree work experience as a data scientist or data engineer. • Experience leading technical teams to apply novel scientific approaches to core business problems. • Ability to design, scope and implement technical solutions to novel exploration problems. • Enjoys constantly learning such that you are driving insights and innovations. • Ability to explain technical problems to and collaborate on solutions with domain experts who aren’t software developers. • Excitement about joining a fast-growing early-stage company, comfort with a dynamic work environment, and eagerness to take on a range of responsibilities. • Ability to independently prioritize multiple tasks effectively. • Creating machine learning models on geospatial data (helpful but not required). • Geostatistics (helpful but not required). • Image processing or computer vision (helpful but not required). • Distributed computing applications for machine learning and other computations (helpful but not required).
