Description
• Conduct intake and provide legal representation in housing court proceedings • Litigate cases in various forums on behalf of clients • Develop expertise in housing court practice, programs, and benefits • Provide legal advice and counseling to tenants • Conduct legal clinics and workshops • Identify trends for potential impact litigation • Provide trainings to advocates and community members
Requirements
• J.D. from an accredited law school • Admission (or seeking admission) to practice law in the State of New York • Commitment to social justice and equity • Effective communication and community outreach skills • Advocacy, analytic, writing, and leadership skills • Time management and organization skills • Experience in housing or related advocacy preferred • Fluency or proficiency in Spanish or another relevant language preferred
