Description

• The Director of Underwriting is responsible for planning, coordinating, monitoring, analyzing, and evaluating the activities of the underwriting staff to achieve departmental goals and ensure the company's profitability through new and existing business. • They will manage and monitor all aspects of underwriting, including implementing processes and procedures, controls, and follow-up for the profitable improvement of active accounts through recommended rate increases/decreases, commission adjustments, and coverage changes. • As part of the senior leadership team at Homeowners of America, you will help develop the strategy and tactics for Underwriting to support and enable profitable growth.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. • 15+ years’ experience in Underwriting, including at least 10 years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience. • Experience with Property and Casualty Risk Assessment/Underwriting, specifically property homeowners and condo policies. • Demonstrated expertise in insurance business acumen. • Experience with call center environments is beneficial but not required. • Lead a team with 3 direct reports and 16–20 underwriting professionals. • 220 General License is preferred not required. • CPCU preferred but not required.
