Description

• Participating in the development of the business and product strategy. Developing roadmaps and a technical vision to drive outcomes. • Leading engineering team(s) to develop a best-in-class platform with a deep nuanced understanding of what drives the business and leads to a stable, maintainable platform. Prioritizing what matters most. • Taking ideas from concept to production and driving delivery excellence. • Communicating with the executive team and company leadership about tech strategy, vision, programs, investment plans, and production issues. • Up-leveling not just the growth team, but engineering overall at Kin. • Hiring, nurturing and mentoring top engineering talent. Giving engineers a strong sense of belonging, ownership and career pathing. • Being a steward of the platform. Owning quality, availability, scalability, resiliency, performance, observability and maintainability as part of ongoing development. Instilling pride of ownership. • Supporting operations and SRE teams in backstopping production issues and incidents. Driving resolutions through root cause analysis.

Requirements

• Has grown up with an engineering background. Has been a developer and architect and worked hands-on in their career. • Overall 12+ years of experience in software development & strong computer science fundamentals with 5+ years managing a team of 25+ software engineers. • Comfortable with working at the 50,000ft level shaping product and business strategy. Driving technology vision/roadmaps and OKRs. Also equally comfortable getting into the weeds working with teams on architecture, planning, resourcing, delivery or quarterbacking production issues when needed. Adept at “seeing around corners” and building with an eye to the future. • Cultivate a culture of deep ownership, empathy and innovation. Nurture a high performance culture and motivated, empathetic teams. Be comfortable with tough-love when necessary. • Experience with end-customer-centric UX, design and architecture. This may include frameworks such as jobs-to-be-done, design sprints, or technology such as JS frameworks and libraries, headless API services, DSLs, etc. • Experience with a b2c tool-stack is nice to have eg. CDPs, CRMs, campaign management, affiliate marketing, customer analytics, conversion funnels, etc. • Conversant with use of analytics using BI or other customer analytics like Google Analytics or FullStory. • Knowledge of the Insurance Industry & Products is a plus but not necessary.
