The Legal Aid Society of Rochester, NY provides civil legal services to residents of Monroe and 13 surrounding counties who otherwise could not afford them. Our attorneys represent people in a variety of family, immigration, housing, and education related cases. We are also the only mandated provider of legal services for children in Monroe County Family Court, advocating for children in cases ranging from abuse and neglect to persons in need of supervision.

Provide legal representation to minors in Family Court for various cases.

• Provide legal representation to minors with the Family Court, including juvenile delinquency, PINS, abuse/neglect, foster care placement, and custody/visitation cases
• Provide community outreach, education, and training to our community partners
• Consult with and review the work of the social worker on each case assigned
• Conduct legal research in each case as required
• Attend Continuing Legal Education training

Attorney for the Child

Provide legal representation and services to low-income litigants in family law matters.

• The Attorney will provide legal representation to low and middle-income litigants in Family Court & Supreme Court in matrimonial cases and other family matters in Monroe, Orleans, and other surrounding counties with a focus on victims of domestic violence
• The attorney will have the opportunity to be part of a team of professionals who have dedicated themselves to the mission of LAS, which is the provision of high-quality civil legal services to low and moderate-income litigants
• Services include direct representation, legal counseling, community outreach, education, and training

Staff Attorney - Family Law Unit

Provide legal representation in housing and consumer law cases for low and middle-income litigants.

• The Attorney will provide legal representation to low and middle-income litigants in Rochester City Court, Supreme Court, County Court, and Federal Bankruptcy Court
• Legal services will be provided in housing and consumer law cases and other matters in Monroe, Ontario, and surrounding counties with a focus on foreclosure and eviction prevention
• The Attorney will be part of a team of professionals who have dedicated themselves to the mission of LASROC, which is the provision of high-quality civil legal services to low- and moderate-income litigants
• Services include direct representation, legal counseling, community outreach, education, and training
