Description

• Oversee all freelance payments magazine-wide, ensuring that contracts are signed and contributors are paid in a timely manner. • Manage all editorial contract negotiations with contributors, working closely with editorial leadership and the Vox Media legal team to establish terms that suit both the magazine and the contributor. • Develop a deep understanding of the magazine’s payment platforms — Coupa and Worksuite — to ensure contributors are being onboarded and paid efficiently. • Serve as the point person between editorial and legal for all questions related to image and story rights & licensing, consulting with the managing editor whenever necessary. • Understand the magazine’s standard contract terms and consult with editorial leadership regularly to adjust and negotiate as needed. • Communicate regularly with our syndication partners to approve when a story can be syndicated or licensed. • Serve as the direct contact between contributors, editors, and the legal team. • Onboarding and offboarding, adding new hires and removing outgoing ones from: internal databases, mastheads, Google groups, etc. • Create cross team visibility and help facilitate communication of key initiatives.

Requirements

• Has at least 4 years of operations and/or business affairs experience, ideally in media • Has experience working in Coupa and/or Worksuite • Enjoys building and improving workflows • Is comfortable working with many people across teams and functions company-wide and generally being the person others come to with a range of questions
