Description

• Architect and design new features and systems with the support of product and design teams • Build new features and systems based on designs • Partner with operations teams to deploy and scale services within the company • Collaborate with product managers and engineers to define product roadmaps • Mentor and be mentored within the engineering team • Develop tools for use by Hearst's publications, focusing on Local Events space • Conduct rapid experimentation to test concepts and resonate with readership and advertising clients • Utilize React and Django for system development • Focus on search and recommendations, front-end performance, and ML and LLM R&D to enhance user journey • Work on web-scale systems to support the company

Requirements

• 5 years of experience in building at-scale backend systems • Ability to scale experiments to web-scale audiences • Collaboration with frontend teams to design APIs and resolve performance issues • Knowledge of best practices for observability and instrumentation in microservice environments • Experience with data engineering teams and analytical tools • Interest in mentoring and fostering mentorship cultures • Design, development, or operation experience with an at-scale E-commerce site or infrastructure • Bachelor's degree in technical field or equivalent real-life experience • Fully remote position available to applicants in contiguous United States
